Blue Shield's role

The Blue Shield mission is 'to work to protect the world's cultural heritage threatened by armed conflict, natural and man-made disasters.'

The key focus for the Blue Shield Australia committee is to promotion of disaster prevention and preparedness in the Australian cultural heritage sector.

In May each year we hold a month-long campaign encouraging archives, galleries, libraries, museums and cultural heritage sites to plan, review and practise how to best protect their collections in the event of a disaster.
